Survival With A: Gerber Suspension Multi Tool

Survival With A: Gerber Suspension Multi Tool

This is a great tool to have, during any zombie attack.

It feels a lot different to the Victorinox Army Knife.

Before I go on, its important to note that the blade locks, and as such in the UK it would be illegal to carry in public. You need to check local laws before you take this out with you.

This feels a bit more heavy duty than the Victorinox Army Knife, and I suspect this is better for heaver work, that may damage the Victorinox Army Knife.

When you get this tool, it comes in a plastic case, that looks a bit naff.

But once you get it out, you can tell you have a proper quality bit of kit.

Case

It comes with a decent case, that’s very handy.

This will give high protection to the tool.

Gerber Suspension Multi Tool

The tool itself, comes with many tools.

It has a clever one handed operation for some of the tools that left you flick out some of the tools with one hand.

The pics are not great as I took them quickly on my mobile phone.

But why have one?

During a zombie attack, this saves you taking a full took kit with you, especially if your on foot.

This is ideal if you need to fix something, or cut wire.

The blade is very strong and will let you make a spear from wood if you are in the woods, ideal to get those pesky zombies.

Survival With A: Summer Wear

Survival With A: Summer Wear

During a zombie attack, its best to stay at your home, where you are protected with brick walls.

But should you need to get out, go light.

We often see chubby smokers advising on having huge backpacks full of items that you will not need.

The first thing to note is your fitness. If you do not exercise regularly, then your going to be dead within 30 seconds of leaving your house or place of safety.

So carry as little as you can get away with, as lighter you are the quicker and further you can go.

This is for the summer, I will do a cold weather one later.

Feet

Wear light cheap trainers, with no socks.

The reason is that you can if need be run into a river, you can take your trainers off or keep them on.

I have often gone out and found that I have had to cross a stream, and had no problems running in with trainers on, or off. You would not do that with expensive trainers, and having no socks, your feet will dry out quicker.

If those zombies are after you, at least you can get away.

Shorts

Shorts are best as again they let you run into a stream.

If you had jeans on, they would get wet, and then your having to walk around wet for the rest of the day.

These I have on are cheap, but they have big pockets, so you can carry items you need.

Top

I would recommend t-shirts, and if its cool or nights or cooler, a light jacket.

The idea is to go from one location to a safe location.

It is not wise to make a shelter (unless you have no option) in the woods during a zombie attack as a few branches is not going to protect you from a lot of hungry zombies.

But remember, if you carry a backpack, that is heavy, your soon going to get worn out (unless your fit), and as such slow down, and then your more likely to be eaten.

Zombie Dogs (1)

This is my first (very basic) attempt at turning the dogs, into zombie dogs, using home made fake blood.

This is basically water and red food die.

I then just poured it on them.

I am not sure how effective it looks at blood soaked zombie dogs.

They do not look very scary to me.

It washed off quick a moment later when they went swimming.

I put some on my arm to see what the effect was like.

Not sure if it looks like blood dripping from my arm.

Survival With A: Chainsaw

Survival With A: Chainsaw

If your in a Zombie war, a chainsaw is great.

You can cut of there heads with ease.

You are not too close to be infected (though wear safety glasses to avoid contaminated blood getting into your eyes).

They are not too heavy.

They should keep going and going (make sure you have spare fuel).

So in a zombie war, try to have at least one chainsaw on you (I suggest a few as backups).

Go for the head if you can, but if not slice those zombie legs and arms off, then the head.

Survival With A: Petzl Tikka Headlamp

Survival With A: Petzl Tikka Headlamp

I have been using this Petzl Tikka Headlamp for months now.

This is ideal for walking in the woods in the dark, as it lights up the woods as if it was daylight.

While you may wonder why you would bother, and you may think a hand touch is good enough. Well I used this in winter, so it meant I could keep my hands in my pockets (so to keep them warm). Also it means you have your hands free (handy if you have bags or tools or something).

As you can see its got rather dirty.

This model has 3 power modes, that change by pressing the top button.

It has also a red light (so far I have not used that function).

When you turn it off, it glows for a while, so handy if the batteries die and you can use it to find new batteries in the dark.

I found the strap very comfy.

The strap even has a whistle built into it.

So for escaping zombies at night, this is ideal.

Something to note is that I used this on the canal during winter walking on a canal, but found that its so bright that people cycling towards me were blinded with the bright light. So if you wear this, turn the power down when chatting to people.

I have found the batteries have lasted ages, but it may be worth you taking 3 batteries with you as spares..

I would recommend you keep this on you, especially during winter time when it gets very dark very early.

Survival With A: Victorinox Army Knife Camper Multifunctional Tool

Survival With A: Victorinox Army Knife Camper Multifunctional Tool

A Victorinox Army Knife is handy to have you at all times.

But be warned, if your in the UK, having a knife on you could be deemed as a weapon, however the blade folds and does not lock, and is not over 3 inches long. If you carry one longer than 3 inches and/or it locks then its illegal to carry outside.

You can buy cheaper multi tools, and they may be as good, but you know the Victorinox Army Knife is well built with quality metal.

You can buy different versions, with different options.

With all the ‘Survival With A’ reviews I do, I always say, do not buy something that your not going to use from time to time. And I find this is something I use at least once a week.

As a weapon to kill zombies, its probably not the first thing to go for, as last thing you want to to is stab a zombie, only for him/her to bite you.

But this tool will help you survive in the wilds.

Rather than putting it into your pocket, my advice is keep it dry and clean in something.

My advice is to keep it in a tin. The one in this pic cost £1 from a pound shop and came with a lighter.

Inside I keep a few bits.

I have inside a few plasters, and a cheap metal thing, plus a lighter.

I find the plasters are handy, as on long walks I sometimes get a blister.

You can then keep it in your pocket.

This is the Victorinox Army Knife Camper Multifunctional Tool with the bits showing.

As I say, this is something that you will use on a regular basis.
